The Shoals Hospital Speakers’ Bureau is designed for you! The group highlights experts in a variety of fields, including internal medicine, general surgery and colon health, sleep, and stroke rehabilitation. Phyllis Greene
Phyllis Greene is the director of Shoals Sleep Disorders Center and Cardiopulmonary services at Shoals Hospital. She is a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist-BRPT, Registered Sleep Technologist, which is certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine, a Certified Respiratory Therapist-NBRC, and a clinical Sleep Educator-BRPT. She is an expert speaking on sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and periodic limb movement disorder.

Loren E. McCoy, M.D., FACP
Dr. Loren McCoy practices Internal Medicine at Avalon Medical Center. He graduated medical school from the University of Alabama School Of Medicine, in Birmingham, Alabama. He is a member of Alabama State Medical Association and a fellow in the American College of Physicians. His specialties are in Internal Medicine, including high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiac disease, and all manners of primary care.

Meredith Pickett, D.O.
Dr. Meredith Pickett is a Doctor of Osteopathy and practices family medicine at Avalon Medical Center. She graduated from medical school at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, in Lewisburg, West Virginia. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Her specialties in Osteopathy focus on total body health by treating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework, which includes the joints, muscles, and spine, aiming to positively affect the body’s nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems.

Ryan Conner, M.D.
Dr. Ryan Conner practices general surgery for Surgical Associates of the Shoals. He received his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine, in Macon, Georgia. Dr. Conner is Board Certified in general surgery and accredited American Board of Surgery. He is an expert in colon health as well as general surgery.

Jan Hannah
Jan Hannah is our Emergency Department Nurse Manager. Her specialties are in emergency medicine, which requires day-to-day running of the department. Her duties include making sure the department is appropriately staffed and has the necessary tools and resources to provide good patient care. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of North Alabama. She began working at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in 1984 and transferred to Shoals Hospital in January 2011. She is now a BLS, PALS, and ACLS instructor.

Vickey Cook
Vickey Cook is our Senior Care Center liaison. Her areas of expertise are in Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. She has had her Bachelor of Science in nursing for 22 years and has been a Nurse Liaison for Psychiatric nursing for three years. She is an advocate for Dementia and Alzheimer’s holding support groups monthly, as well as, a board member for Coalition for Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders.

Pam Moore
Pam Moore is the director of our J.W. Sommer Rehabilitation Unit. She graduated with an associate degree in nursing in 1992. She began her tenure with HealthSouth in 2003 when J.W. Sommer Rehab opened where she served as the case management director. She has since been named as the rehab administrator in 2005. She is FIM certified, which means she has the authority to measure one’s ability to function with independence. Her specialties are stroke and rehabilitation.
